Industrial Training
Institute, Indranagar was set up in 1959 with a modest motive to
supply trained manpower in areas of mechanical, electrical, civil
and automobile engineering for meeting the requirements of the
local industry as well as the state. Gradually Training also
started to be imparted in non-engineering areas such as
Stenography (English). |

The Institute as over the years developed into one of the best it
is of the region with excellent training being imparted in
Electrical, Mechanical and Civil areas. Recently as a part of
expansion three more contemporary trades related to Electronics
has been introduced. The institute is also one of the oldest and
largest institutes in the northeastern region of the country. It
has presently sixteen (16) trades and sanctioned seats of two
hundred sixty four (248) trainees every year. |

The Institute has covered area of 3337.15 sq. mt. Including
Administrative Block and Workshop Building. The Institute is not
only engaged in training activities but also performing successful
activities such as Motivation Campaign, Entrepreneurship Campaign
as well as Sports Activities. |

is situated at a pleasant and picturesque place within a walk-able
distance from the G.B. Hospital and Medical College, Agartala and
the Agartala Dairy. |

Objectives of the Institute..... |
|
|
|
To
ensure steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the
industries. |
|
To
improve the quality and quantity of industrial production by
systematic training of workers. |
|
To
reduce the unemployment among the educated youths and equipping
them for suitable industrial employments. |
|
|
|
Curriculum........ |
|
The curriculum is so designed that the successful candidates would
be well equipped in all the facets of their trades and will make
them easily employable in a manufacturing or user industry. With
experience they can also aspire to be self-employed professionals
/ entrepreneurs in the field. |
|
|
|
In order to provide sound practical knowledge and at the same
time, acquaint them with industrial practices, out of total
working hours of 42 hours per week the practical sessions have
been kept at 28 hours per week and the balance 10 hours is
allotted for theoretical sessions and four hours for library
studies and physical training. The theory part includes classroom
sessions and library reference work. |

No course fee is charged from the trainees for undergoing training
in any of the trades of the ITI(s). But to guard against loss or
damage to equipment or tools, etc. entrusted to the charges of the
trainees, a trainee will be required to deposit a sum of Rs.50/-
each as Caution Money. A second deposit may also be asked for, it
the first one has been exhausted. This Caution Money is refunded
to the trainees on completion of training after deduction of Govt.
dues, if any. |

Admission....... |
|
Application shall be made in the prescribed format, published with
the advertisement in the local dailies, accompanied by attested
copies of mark sheets and other credentials. The selection of
candidate’s starts well in advance of the commencement of each
session and admission process is completed by the date of starting
of the session, i.e. in June every year. In case of filling up of
vacant seats in no case it is beyond one month for two-year trade
and 15 days for one-year trade. |
|
Candidates are selected purely on merit, based on the marks
secured by them in the Examination on the minimum qualification
prescribed for the respective trade. |
|
|
|
Physical Standard and Age Limit...... |
|
Candidate with proper and adequate vision in at least one eye
should be made eligible for admission to ITI(s). |
|
The candidates of 14-40 years of age as on date of start of
admission session are eligible to apply for admission. |
